Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plastic Fabricator Leader to join our team at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. As a key member of our Production Resources Department, you will be responsible for leading a team of fabricators to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct random surveillance inspections of in-process preservation work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Perform inspections of deficient coatings and work in process to identify areas for improvement.
  • Determine the most effective methods, techniques, materials, and devices for achieving smooth-textured and decorative surfaces.
  • Lead subordinate crews of up to 30 employees to apply, manufacture, and repair coating materials.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. You must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
