Job Overview

The CNC Machining Specialist will design, develop, and maintain source programming for numerically controlled machining centers to machine parts to blueprint specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate CNC part programs (G codes) along with setup documentation required to run the part on a CNC machining center
  • Compile and test programs, incorporating required corrections and revisions to prepare tooling, programming, and documents for full production with the CNC Machinist
  • Participate in design and development of appropriate cutting tools for CNC machined parts
  • Prepare and document instructions and setup sheets for CNC Machinists
  • Interface with users as required
  • Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine work pieces into blueprint specifications
  • Revise CNC programs to eliminate machining errors and retest programs to check that problems have been solved and meet blueprint specifications
  • Understand job orders, blueprints, and specifications in order to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates; Determine data reference points, machine cutting/tooling paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures
  • Observe machines on trial runs and conduct computer simulations to ensure that CNC programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet blueprint specifications
  • Use CAM software to generate programs in the language of a machine's controller and store programs on DNC system
  • Modify existing CNC programs to enhance cycle times
  • Maintain source programs in a secure environment in network system
  • Maintain and adhere to all standard safety protocols
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Requirements
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Basic knowledge of tooling and CNC programming
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Programming experience with Unigraphics or similar CAM software for 3-axis to 7-axis part programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent in math (trigonometry, geometry), computer technology, or similar discipline
Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes
Benefits

Salary range: $35.90 to $46.36. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.

Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
