Northeastern University, a world-renowned research institution, is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join its esteemed faculty. As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise across relevant projects, collaborating with senior engineers and scientists to establish innovative research agendas. Your primary focus will be on developing differentiated capabilities in additive and advanced manufacturing, as well as evaluating and characterizing materials and practices. You will also contribute to the development of best practices and materials for deploying these methods, including personnel training.
The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant research and development experience. Expertise in digital design methods for manufacturing, Industry 4.0 practices, and quality methods is required. Additionally, you will have experience in the development, testing, scale-up, and deployment of methods such as 3D printing methodologies, microfabrication, cold spray, ceramic or novel composite development, dielectric processing, and engineered coatings. Strong writing, presentation, and publication skills are essential for this role.
This position requires a close working relationship with senior KRI engineers and scientists, demonstrating qualities expected from a responsible team player who exhibits initiative and motivation to contribute to project, team, and organizational objectives for successful outcomes in government and industry contracts.
