QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Required: Master's Degree in education or a related field.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in assessment and/or accountability at the campus or district level.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Familiarity with the policies and procedures of the Texas State Assessment Program;
  • Comprehension of the tasks necessary to design and execute a successful state assessment program at the campus level;
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local accountability frameworks;
  • Knowledge of Gifted and Talented (G/T) and Credit-by-Exam (CBE) testing protocols;
  • Grasp of fundamental measurement concepts related to objective and normative testing;
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and assessment data;
  • Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills;
  • Capacity to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and engage others in achieving quality outcomes.

Technology Proficiency: Level 2 - Applied (use of)

  • Proficient in computer operations;
  • Skilled in software productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office);
  • Experienced in using email and printers;
  • Familiar with job-related student management systems and web-based applications;
  • Proficient in multimedia tools (e.g., audio, video, media, etc.).

FUNCTION:

The Assessment & Accountability Advisor provides direct support to designated campuses to ensure compliance with state and local accountability and assessment activities. A significant focus will be on utilizing assessment and accountability outcomes to enhance the performance of all students. The Advisor will deliver training at the district, campus, and educator levels aimed at fostering campus improvement.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:

ASSESSMENT OPERATIONS:

  • Collaborate with the Campus Test Coordinator at each assigned campus to formulate a Campus Assessment Plan for each assessment administration, including activities, timelines, and responsibilities aligned with the District-wide Assessment Plan. This plan will encompass pre-test preparation, during-test activities, and post-test follow-ups;
  • Assist the Campus Test Coordinator in executing the Campus Assessment Plan to ensure all activities are completed within the designated timelines;
  • Monitor the implementation of the Campus Assessment Plan and notify the District Testing Coordinator and Senior Director for Assessment and Accountability if the plan is not followed as intended;
  • Interpret policies, procedures, and data concerning assessment;
  • Prepare data analyses of campus results and offer technical support to campuses in understanding these results;
  • Conduct specialized data analyses, as per the District Assessment Plan, to identify strengths and needs of all students, providing recommendations for instructional and assessment improvements;
  • Facilitate professional development and training related to assessment;
  • Act as a consultant for assessment committees on matters related to assessment (e.g., 504, special education, etc.);
  • Ensure compliance within the vertical learning community regarding assessment;
  • Assist assigned campuses with the preparation, administration, and troubleshooting of online testing.

ACCOUNTABILITY OPERATIONS:

  • Serve as an accountability resource for all assigned campuses;
  • Interpret policies, procedures, and data related to accountability;
  • Assist with campus accountability data analysis and interpretation;
  • Conduct training related to accountability at the district, campus, and educator levels;
  • Support the development and dissemination of accountability reports;
  • Take responsibility for acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to fulfill job duties and enhance leadership capabilities.

OTHER TESTING:

  • Plan and coordinate with the Campus Test Coordinator the activities required for conducting Credit-by-Exam testing based on District Testing Guidelines;
  • Plan and coordinate with the Campus Assessment Coordinator the activities necessary for conducting Gifted and Talented testing based on District Testing Guidelines;
  • Plan and coordinate any other campus testing as approved by the Senior Director.

SCHOOL OR ORGANIZATION IMPROVEMENT:

  • Enhance the quality of assessments to ensure uniformity across campus assessments, generating accurate and timely data;
  • Improve understanding of the accountability system to promote campus improvement and student learning;
  • Implement continuous data quality measures that result in accurate reporting at both campus and district levels.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:

  • Engage in professional development activities and training programs to maintain current knowledge of assessment policies and procedures;
  • Participate in professional development activities and training programs to stay informed about accountability policies;
  • Stay updated through professional literature and federal/state legislation regarding student assessment and accountability;
  • Seek and utilize evaluative feedback from peers and supervisors to enhance performance.

  • District-wide travel; occasional out-of-district travel;
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
