Job Summary

The Trade Specialist 2, HVAC performs a variety of tasks related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance, repair, and replacement. This includes troubleshooting the Energy Management Control System (EMCS) for operational needs, scheduling, performing, and reporting on central plants and unitary HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of skilled trades expertise, journey-level central plant and commercial direct expansion equipment maintenance and repair, and basic repair and maintenance of commercial facility systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedules, performs, and reports central plant and unitary HVAC work duties.
  • Coordinates with other staff, vendors, and inspectors to meet the operational needs of the various campuses.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of all central plant equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, valves, and electric actuators.
  • Monitors, adjusts, and repairs a wide array of energy management controls systems, including informational technology remote monitoring systems.
  • Services and maintains all air handler and air filtration systems.
  • Monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS).
  • Coordinates, conducts, and assists outside vendor work and equipment inspectors to assure adherence to scheduling, safety, and performance guidelines.
  • Provides first line onsite support for HVAC when campus needs arise and supports the roving HVAC crew.
  • Maintains and adjusts facilities maintenance and repair operating scheduling and tracking system.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational or technical training in HVAC maintenance.
  • One to three years of related journey level trade experience.
  • EPA certification/license.
  • Valid Arizona driver license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of related journey level trade experience.
Physical Requirements

The primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a non-traditional work setting, to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, reach, and twist, to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight, to operate various equipment required to perform the job, and to verbally communicate to exchange information. May be exposed to various hazardous conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, infectious disease, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, tight spaces, or high places, moving mechanical parts, etc.

Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Heavy Work: Exerting force up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
