THE ROLE: The Transport Specialist - $2,500.00 Sign-On Bonus will be responsible for the safe operation of a DOT regulated vehicle, transporting materials and equipment across various locations. This role initiates and executes field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner, working with mechanical, electrical, and diesel equipment while anticipating and addressing safety concerns. You will maintain direct communication with customers and may be responsible for operations across multiple systems and locations. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Identify all items to be delivered or collected with the customer to ensure completeness and accuracy. Conduct visual inspections of equipment being collected and note any damage. Obtain the customer's signature on the appropriate documentation.
  • Utilize motorized equipment handling machinery to safely load and unload equipment from trucks and trailers.
  • Secure all items loaded on the vehicle for safe transportation in accordance with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Department of Transportation, and local Department of Transportation guidelines.
  • Assist in securing loads using straps and chains.
  • Ensure that yard and loading areas are free of debris and organized for easy access to accessories and equipment.
  • Travel locally to mobilize and demobilize small pump systems at customer job sites, ensuring that pipeline and pump equipment are installed according to specifications.
  • Operate fusion machines to build HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipelines on customer sites to connect the pumping system, ensuring operational requirements are met.
  • Follow all safety processes and procedures, maintaining a 'Safety First' approach when completing daily tasks. Complete a Job Safety Assessment before starting any job on a customer site and ensure compliance with all Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • CDL Class A or B; or the ability to obtain.
  • Experience with flatbed trailers and proper load securement techniques (chaining, strapping, etc.).
  • Prior experience fusing HDPE pipe preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to respond to customer emergencies.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors/managers, and customers both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read blueprints or other layout and design documents.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to safely operate diesel-powered hydraulic lifting equipment, such as forklifts, front-end loaders, tow motors, telehandlers, etc.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair simple mechanical issues.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

The working environment is frequently outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions, requiring the use of PPE. Physical demands may include, but are not limited to, regularly sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs. This role may also require some travel and participation in work during weekends, nights, after-hours, and an on-call rotation as a regular part of the job.

SALARY:

Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
