About the Role:
The Fleet Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the transportation operations of Viking Electric, including logistics, DOT compliance, vehicle leasing, and associated fleet expenses. This role will also involve onboarding telematics, performance tracking, and reporting, as well as monthly payables administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- DOT Compliance: Own and administer the company's Department of Transportation program, ensuring compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, Driver Hours of Service, Random Drug/Alcohol screening, and Rule-Set requirements.
- Fleet Management: Work with Regional Operations Directors to obtain truck lease quotations, final lease documents, and establish strong relationships with local dealers. Research, analyze, and approve vehicle specifications, repair, replacement, and rental invoices for all company-owned and leased vehicles.
- Auto Insurance Claims: Act as the point of contact and subject matter expert for the auto insurance claims process, working in collaboration with the Sonepar Risk Management Team.
- Safety Training: Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other federal, state, or local requirements in support of the company's safety program.
- Telematics and Metrics: Oversight of company-wide telematics hardware installation and Viking Electric policy compliance, as well as tracking and creation of key transportation metrics, including fuel usage, miles operated, cost per mile, repair/maintenance, and vehicle assets by location.
Requirements:
- Transportation Experience: Two years of experience in transportation or fleet administration required.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT and OSHA regulations, with the ability to learn and adapt to new requirements.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Travel: Availability to travel up to 25% of the time.
