We are seeking a highly skilled Civil CAD Designer to join our team at Spero Technology. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for developing scaled civil site plans with grading, paving, and drainage from various media, including sketches, PDFs, and CAD drawings provided by engineers and senior design staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop scaled civil site plans with grading, paving, and drainage
  • Understand survey files and generate Digital Terrain Models (DTMs)
  • Edit surfaces, including surface boundaries, creating new surfaces from various surfaces, and tying proposed surfaces into existing surfaces
  • Create Volume Surfaces within Autodesk Civil 3D and calculate cut/fill volumes/generate reports with an understanding of sloping grades
  • Establish piping alignments to generate plan and profile 2D drawings for site and linear infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate modeling and drawing production activities between disciplines at the project level
  • Provide clash detection reporting using Autodesk Navisworks or Bentley Navigator
  • Provide model interrogation data reports (e.g., quantities, parts list, etc.)
  • Provide quality checking of drafted products and conformance with modeling and drawing production standards
  • Generate 2D drawing views from 3D design models and develop into final contract drawings
  • Produce engineering documents and related material with minimal direction and supervision
  • Provide basic CAD/BIM technical support for junior level staff
  • Convert data between MicroStation and AutoCAD

Requirements:

  • Highly motivated self-starter, results-driven, and teamwork-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and good follow-up skills
  • Working knowledge of survey practices, including georeferencing utilizing grid/ground coordinate systems
  • Advanced level of proficiency in the development of 2D civil design drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of 3D design concepts
  • Advanced knowledge in Autodesk Civil 3D, both in grading and piping networks
  • Experience using Grading Creation Tools and Feature Lines within Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Proficient with AutoCAD or MicroStation 2D and 3D functions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ArcGIS and its integration with Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of Corridors and Assemblies within Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Field experience in surveying or inspection
  • Experience in detail design of water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure
