Salary:$60,000 - $80,000 per annum

Job Description:
Counselor Responsibilities:
  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the Archdiocese of Washington.
  • Participates in activities that develop/strengthen the understanding of the Catholic faith.
  • Adheres to all Federal and State laws for reporting child abuse, neglect and/or endangerment.
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Supports and adheres to the Code of conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese.
  • Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
  • Assists in development of student support plans.
  • Prepares and implements counseling program for students.
  • Assists students with social/emotional issues and offers referral options for outside counseling.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
Counselor Requirements:
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude while providing exemplary customer service.
  • Excellent listener.


Education and Experience:
Counselor Expectations:
  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, school-based mental healthcare, or a related field.
  • Must have a valid state-issued certificate or license.
  • Must have 2-3 years of counseling experience.
  • Experience with administrative functions (budgeting, scheduling, institutional relationships).
  • Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
