About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Education Specialist in a dynamic environment. As an Education Specialist, you'll collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other specialists to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

You'll set specific, measurable goals and objectives for each student based on their unique needs. You'll also modify general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities, develop and use specialized teaching materials and strategies, and regularly assess and monitor student performance and progress toward IEP goals.

In addition, you'll use a variety of assessment tools and techniques to evaluate student learning, teach academic and life skills using specialized instructional methods, provide one-on-one or small-group instruction to support individual learning needs, and implement and manage behavioral interventions and strategies.

You'll work closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other specialists to support student development. You'll coordinate with general education teachers to ensure that students with disabilities are included in mainstream activities and lessons, communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress and needs, and provide resources and strategies for parents to support their child's learning at home.

You'll maintain detailed records of student progress, IEPs, and any incidents or concerns. You'll prepare and submit required reports and documentation in compliance with school and legal requirements, stay current with best practices in special education through ongoing training and education, and participate in workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited University required. Master's Degree in Special Education or Reading Intervention preferred.
  • Ability to work amiably with colleagues, students, and their families.
  • Experience working in all school settings.
