Position Title: Solar Service Technician
Classification: Non-Exempt/Full-Time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 Hours/Week) with potential for evening and weekend overtime.
Reporting Structure: Reports to Operations Director
Role Summary:
The Solar Service Technician will operate under the guidance of the Operations Director, focusing on the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of existing rooftop solar installations and related equipment. This role requires collaboration with the Operations Director, Site Supervisors, Clients, and Vendors to ensure that projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and to the high standards expected by SEL Construction and its clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
The Solar Service Technician will be accountable for coordinating, planning, organizing, and directing all job-related activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting thorough inspections, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing issues related to installed rooftop solar panels and associated equipment, adhering to national codes and local regulations.
- Interpreting plans, specifications, technical documents, and contracts to ensure compliance with applicable codes and industry standards.
- Engaging with potential, current, and former customers professionally to provide product knowledge and clarify the scope of work.
- Maintaining effective communication with supervisory personnel regarding job activities while ensuring the health and safety of all employees and stakeholders.
- Documenting daily logs, photographs, updates, reports, and other relevant job status information.
- Overseeing job site work completion and quality control measures in line with company policies.
- Promoting an organized and safe working environment.
- Collaborating with SEL Construction's leadership to align with the company's objectives and operational functions.
- Staying informed on current building codes and inspection processes.
- Maintaining necessary certifications as required by SEL Construction and applicable laws.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Solar Industry or 3 years in the Electrical Field.
- Preferred electrical certification (Journeyman, Install, Low Voltage, etc.).
- Ability to work independently in a diverse environment.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
- Strong understanding of construction site practices and safety protocols.
- 30 Hour OSHA Training/Certification required.
- CPR/First Aid Training Certification preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in English.
- Valid Driver License and reliable transportation are essential.
- Physical requirements include the ability to access various worksite areas, operate job-related tools and equipment safely, and lift items weighing up to 50lbs.
This position involves exposure to ongoing construction activities and varying weather conditions, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.
Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel throughout the designated region is required, with the possibility of short and long-distance travel.
Compensation:
Pay rate will be commensurate with experience.
