Role Summary:

The Youth Camp Facilitator will collaborate with colleagues under the guidance of the Program Director to deliver a high-quality summer camp experience tailored to the social-emotional development of children aged 5-12 years. The facilitator will create a joyful and secure environment that encourages engaging learning experiences with a focus on STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and character growth through interactive activities. This role requires a passionate, nurturing, and child-focused individual with strong interpersonal skills. Building positive relationships with children, staff, families, and the community is essential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED or proof of completion of an approved home school program and one of the following:
  • A degree or endorsement in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation;
  • Three months of relevant experience and at least one of the following:
  • A one-year early childhood certificate from an accredited institution;
  • A child development credential recognized by the state;
  • A teaching diploma from a recognized Montessori program; or
  • Six months of supervised experience, with a commitment to complete at least 12 hours of training related to child care within the first month of employment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old (21 years preferred);
  • Pass background checks and screening processes;
  • Submit to health assessments;
  • Comply with licensing regulations for child care centers;
  • Possess reliable transportation;
  • Familiarity with military lifestyles and community resources is advantageous;
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and perform physical activities as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in training to gain knowledge and skills for implementing engaging, age-appropriate lessons that align with the curriculum and promote STREAM, literacy, health, safety, and character development.
  • Complete all required annual training to meet licensing standards.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and complete necessary documentation for meals and snacks.
  • Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist children with homework and provide enriching activities to support their development.
  • Create an inviting and stimulating learning environment.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork and inclusivity.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized space, ensuring all materials are secured.
  • Engage actively with children and encourage their social skills.
  • Promote healthy habits and behaviors.
  • Follow emergency procedures and report any concerns regarding child safety.
  • Document incidents as per regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding program needs.
  • Participate in off-site activities and field trips.
  • Dress in a professional manner, representing the organization positively.
  • Log work hours accurately for payroll purposes.
