About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Technical Lead to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in accounting functions, including financial analysis, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and support to accounting staff on financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership to drive the implementation of new accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and other accounting records.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to management on financial matters.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Thorough understanding of government accounting principles (GASB) and knowledge of statutory accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, leadership, and external auditors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of UCI's integrated financial systems and related sub-systems.
  • Experience in an academic medical center environment.
  • Active CPA license.
