Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coordinator to join our team. As a Medical Coordinator, you will play a critical role in coordinating all peri-operative activities related to scheduling patients for surgery. Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing surgical postings for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that all necessary information is documented in the patient's medical chart.
- Scheduling and verifying surgery dates and related information, such as medical clearance and pre-op appointments, with patients and healthcare providers.
- Responding to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner, providing clear and concise information about their surgery and related procedures.
- Recording surgical cases on Outlook calendars to ensure that providers and staff have accurate information about available time slots.
- Obtaining authorization from insurance companies for surgical procedures that require prior approval.
- Submitting billing sheets to physicians for coding and reimbursement purposes.
- Providing administrative support to healthcare providers, including appointment scheduling and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical secretarial program or related experience preferred.
- Two years of related medical clerical experience sufficient to acquire skills in transcribing medical terminology, office organization, and communication.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members.
Work Environment
This is a day shift position, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Some roles within our organization may require distinct physical and/or mental capabilities. Further details and accommodation requests will be addressed by individual hiring departments.
