Job Summary

A Culinary Specialist is responsible for the preparation of resident meals, ensuring they are cooked and served in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare or direct the preparation of food items on assigned and scheduled menus, adhering to food production and usage schedules to avoid waste.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Maintain sanitation of equipment and utensils, and work, storage, and serving areas by cleaning immediately after use. Identify and correct safety hazards in the food service areas.
  • Logistics and Inventory: Log and record temperatures of food, freezers, refrigerators, and dishwashers as assigned. Assist with tray service to residents in the dining area and pick up dishes after meal is served.
  • Housekeeping and Maintenance: Maintain daily care of dishwasher and dishwashing area, lavatory and sink, salad worktable, dish storage cabinet, and food carts. Assure that trash cans are cleaned and assist in maintaining dry storage areas.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Advise the Food Service Supervisor of any needed changes to the diet cards in a timely manner and have the ability to reasonably conform to all rules and policies of the facility.
Requirements
  • High school education or GED is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
