  • Responsible for executing IT-focused audits and assessments to ensure compliance across various entities, including governmental bodies and educational institutions. This includes evaluating both physical and logical access controls, general IT controls, and application controls, along with drafting and presenting findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Accountable for the assessment and appraisal of information systems, including platforms, applications, network infrastructure, and operational practices related to IT, and for producing reports that are comprehensible to a non-technical audience.
  • Tasked with supporting an audit team by designing, developing, and maintaining technological solutions that facilitate audit activities, as well as evaluating and enhancing artificial intelligence applications in support of audit functions.
Education and Generalized Audit Experience Substitutions:
Education may replace up to five years of IT auditing experience as follows:
  • An Associate's degree may substitute for two years.
  • A Bachelor's degree may substitute for four years.
  • A Master's degree may substitute for an additional year of IT audit experience.
Additionally, one year of generalized audit experience may replace one year of IT auditing experience.

Duties Description: Information Technology Auditing and Support Services:

  • Engaging in specialized IT audits, projects, and studies that involve advanced and intricate IT issues, auditing tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Conducting IT-related audit activities in accordance with established auditing standards, IT security protocols, and industry benchmarks.
  • Providing expert consultation and hands-on support to audit teams and auditees on technical IT matters during various audits.
  • Staying informed about emerging technologies and advising management on relevant trends and developments.
  • Researching and proposing topics for future specialized IT audits, projects, audit tools, publications, and training initiatives.
  • Utilizing advanced IT auditing tools such as Nmap, Nessus, and AppScan.
  • Designing and executing tests of IT controls to assess their implementation and effectiveness, ensuring adequate controls are in place.
  • Evaluating the adequacy of cybersecurity governance, IT policies, procedures, and internal controls within the auditee's environment.
  • Conducting interviews with auditees and performing walkthroughs to assist in the evaluation of information system controls.
  • Assisting audit teams in drafting preliminary findings, discussion documents, reports, and special project documentation.
  • Enhancing the Division's capabilities in IT auditing.

Technology Assistance and Training:

  • Providing training and support to Unit staff on advanced IT auditing tools and developing related policies and procedures.
  • Assisting audit staff in evaluating and testing controls over computerized systems in various sectors.
  • Conducting training sessions on various IT auditing topics and technologies.
  • Educating local officials on cybersecurity governance and IT-related issues.
  • Identifying training and professional development opportunities to ensure staff are equipped to fulfill their responsibilities.

Supervision:
May assist in overseeing the work of Auditor 1s, Information Technology Specialist 1s, trainees, students, or other related positions.
