Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the coordination of all activities within the Assessment Beds Program during their assigned shift. This role involves continuous engagement with clients, effective crisis intervention, and exemplifying appropriate interactions between clients and staff. The supervisor must ensure the safety of both clients and staff while fulfilling all shift responsibilities efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage on-duty personnel effectively to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
  • Ensure all essential tasks are completed during each shift to support smooth program operations, including safety protocols, meal provisions, client storage, and adherence to program guidelines.
  • Actively engage with clients throughout the shift in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the facility, including performing light cleaning duties.
  • Assist in the referral process by completing screening intakes as directed by the Triage Supervisor.
  • Support the monitoring and management of referrals as assigned.
  • Keep accurate logs and records as required by operational protocols.
  • Participate in data entry to ensure compliance with the Mental Health Information System (MHIS) as needed.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, as well as funding requirements.
  • Provide transportation for clients to appointments as requested by the Program Director.
  • Engage with clients to understand and address their needs, both within and outside the scope of the role.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings as requested, ensuring effective communication with clients and staff across various areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee, and agency information in accordance with legal and funding requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with program, department, agency, and funder requirements, along with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Understanding and sensitivity towards the homeless population.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels, including clients, staff, and external service providers.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet insurance standards.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

  • Reports directly to the Triage Services Supervisor.
  • No direct reports for this position.
  • May oversee up to three temporary staff members per shift indirectly.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Capability to drive and walk.
  • Ability to bend over as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires light travel within the general area. The Shift Supervisor will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by the organization in various programs funded or administered through relevant health and human services offices. A successful background check is mandatory.
