Position Overview

We are on the lookout for an Intermediate Java Software Engineer to become a vital part of our expanding team dedicated to developing cutting-edge global video solutions that manage vast amounts of requests and serve millions of users. Our team is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of innovative products and services that are crucial for providing Internet, TV, Streaming, and Voice services to a diverse customer base.

Employment Type

This role is a W-2 hourly position, structured as a 6-month contract-to-hire, with the potential for transitioning into a full-time position.

Interview Requirement

An in-person interview at one of our office locations is necessary.

Compensation

The hourly wage ranges from $35 – $45, with compensation determined by your experience and skill set. Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and enhance sophisticated server-side applications and frameworks capable of handling high volumes.
  • Understand a complex microservices architecture to evaluate how new feature implementations or updates impact the overall service.
  • Create reusable, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ascertain product and technical specifications, analyzing to identify integration requirements.
  • Write code that adheres to functional requirements and is both testable and maintainable, demonstrating a commitment to test-driven development.
  • Engage in the establishment and upkeep of CI/CD pipelines and related tools.
  • Design and maintain observability metrics and dashboards to monitor service health.
  • Contribute to production service support and troubleshooting in a high-demand environment.
  • Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure applications meet specifications and technical standards.
  • Generate technical designs and documentation at various levels of detail.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Java software development, particularly with Spring and RESTful architecture.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming, data modeling, and design patterns.
  • Experience in building systems for highly available multi-site environments, with a solid understanding of the network architecture that supports such systems.
  • Experience in developing high-volume, highly available applications deployed across multiple regions in AWS.
  • Knowledge of reactive programming patterns and frameworks (e.g., Reactor, Spring WebFlux).
  • Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Oracle, Postgres) as well as caching layers (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software delivery through CI/CD; experience with Jenkins and GitHub Actions is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of application telemetry for observability; prior experience with Grafana or the ELK stack is a plus.
  • Understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the HTTP protocol and experience with caching, particularly in HTTP-compliant caches.
  • Professional experience with major MVC frameworks (e.g., Spring MVC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a technical context.
