Position Overview

We are in search of an Intermediate Java Software Engineer to enhance our dedicated team focused on developing global video platforms that manage extensive requests and serve millions of users. Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering cutting-edge products and services that play a crucial role in providing Internet, TV, Streaming, and Voice solutions to a vast customer base. This position is structured as a W-2 hourly role, on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis, with potential for transition to a full-time position.

Note: An in-person interview at one of our office locations is required.

The hourly compensation ranges from $35 to $45, determined by your experience and skill set. Eligible candidates will also receive limited benefits, including health insurance, professional development opportunities, training, a referral bonus program, and a wellness initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and scale complex high-volume server-side applications and frameworks.
  • Understand a sophisticated microservices architecture to assess how new feature development or updates will impact the overall service.
  • Write reusable, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements, analyzing to determine integration needs.
  • Produce code that meets functional requirements and is both testable and maintainable, with a strong emphasis on test-driven development.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and related tools.
  • Design, implement, and maintain observability telemetry collection and dashboards to monitor service health.
  • Engage in production service support and issue resolution in a high-volume, high-impact environment.
  • Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure applications meet specifications and technical requirements.
  • Create technical designs and documentation at various levels of detail.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Java software development, particularly with Spring and RESTful architecture.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented development, data modeling, and design patterns.
  • Experience in building systems for highly available multi-site environments, with an understanding of the supporting network architecture.
  • Proficiency in developing high-volume, highly available applications deployed across regions in AWS.
  • Knowledge of reactive programming patterns and frameworks (e.g., Reactor, Spring WebFlux).
  • Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases (such as MongoDB, Oracle, Postgres) and caching layers (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software delivery via CI/CD; experience with Jenkins and GitHub Actions is advantageous.
  • Understanding of application telemetry instrumentation for observability; prior experience with Grafana or the ELK stack is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of testing methodologies and frameworks.
  • Understanding of the HTTP protocol and experience with caching, particularly in HTTP-compliant caches.
  • Professional experience with major MVC frameworks (e.g., Spring MVC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
