Process Engineer Role

Mallard Creek Polymers is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Process Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, equipment, programming, and technology use specifically in the chemical industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain control of production recipes in Process Control and ERP Systems.
  • Monitor daily production and adjust recipes to maintain products within specifications with consultation from Research and Development and Technical Service.
  • Assist Project Engineer in developing justification for preparation of capital request or requests for engineering or technical assistance.
  • Design, estimate, and implement process capital projects.
  • Recommend and coordinate implementation of process changes to effect cost reductions, yield improvement, and quality improvements.
  • Evaluate the utilization of materials, manpower, and equipment for optimum efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct process improvements and yield study analysis.
  • Participate in and lead programs relating to process control, process development, operator training, and others as assigned.
  • Evaluate the need for and implementation of process control computer program changes.
  • Participate and lead EHS and PSM initiatives such as PSI development, PHA reviews, Operating Procedures development and maintenance, Training, PSSR's, SHE reviews, MOC, and Accident Investigations.
  • Conduct special data analysis projects as requested by management.
  • Lead and manage process improvement projects as part of our Continuous Improvement culture.

Mallard Creek Polymers is a chemical manufacturer providing a broad range of styrene-butadiene, styrene-acrylic, and acrylic emulsion polymers to our customers. Customer care, new product development, and flexible manufacturing are key areas of focus.

The Process Engineer is responsible for planning and implementing process optimization and improvement projects associated with the chemistry, equipment, programming, and technology used in the emulsion manufacturing at Mallard Creek.

The Process Engineer applies engineering skills and experience to develop design parameters to allow evaluation and justification of equipment necessary for optimization and improvement of the process.

Requirements

  • S. in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • ~ 5+ years of chemical manufacturing experience in batch organic chemical or emulsion polymerization environment is preferred.
  • ~ Proficient working experience with process control PLCs and batch programming language is required.
  • ~ High energy level, goal-oriented, self-starter with willingness to think "outside the box".
