Job Title: Process Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team at Mallard Creek Polymers. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and implementing process optimization and improvement projects associated with the chemistry, equipment, programming, and technology used in the emulsion manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop design parameters to allow evaluation and justification of equipment necessary for optimization and improvement of the process.
  • Work in conjunction with the R&D Department in scale up of new products.
  • Responsible for maintaining control of production recipes in Process Control and ERP Systems.
  • Monitor daily production and adjust recipes to maintain products within specifications with consultation from Research and Development and Technical Service.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot process deviations, solve problems, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist Project Engineer in developing justification for preparation of capital request or requests for engineering or technical assistance.
  • Design, estimate, and implement process capital projects.
  • Recommend and coordinate implementation of process changes to effect cost reductions, yield improvement, and quality improvements.
  • Evaluate the utilization of materials, manpower, and equipment for optimum efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct process improvements and yield study analysis.
  • Participate in and lead programs relating to process control, process development, operator training, and others as assigned.
  • Review process recipes for scale up for accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Assist in coordination of scale up and optimization of new and existing products.
  • Evaluate the need for and implementation of process control computer program changes.
  • Assist in preparation of the capital budget.
  • Participate and lead EHS and PSM initiatives such as PSI development, PHA reviews, Operating Procedures development and maintenance, Training, PSSR's, SHE reviews, MOC, and Accident Investigations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of B.S. in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of chemical manufacturing experience in batch organic chemical or emulsion polymerization environment is preferred.
  • Proficient working experience with process control PLCs and batch programming language is required.
  • Analytical ability to review processes that will lead to improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • High energy level, goal-oriented, self-starter with willingness to think "outside the box".
  • Willingness to accept ideas/suggestions from others.
