Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our Hospitalist team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a key member of our team, you will provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine patient with an emphasis on cardiology patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine patient with an emphasis on cardiology patients.
- Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the Internal Medicine cardiology inpatient population.
- Rotate through several services, including hospitalist teams and cardiology consult team.
- Facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient cardiology services.
- Evaluate and manage cardiology consult inpatients and work with the primary team to facilitate appropriate care, including cardiac catheterization, and medication therapy.
- Physician Assistant (PA): Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.
- Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP): A Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
- ARNP - Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
- ARNP - Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in area of Internal Medicine clinical practice or previous experience in specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
