Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to join our team at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services, under the direction of the attending physician.
- Exercise autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided, while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Perform initial evaluations, including complete history and physical examination, and document findings in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize care delivery and transitions of care.
- Use judgment to provide continuity of care, incorporating best practices and encouraging others to do the same.
- Perform and record medical histories and physical examinations, evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical conditions, and discuss testing and treatment options with patients and families.
- Utilize technology, attend conferences, and participate in CEU opportunities to update personal knowledge and maintain knowledge of accrediting bodies' expectations.
- Coordinate or deliver services to patients requiring continuing care, refer patients to appropriate clinicians as indicated, and evaluate, treat, and institute procedures as training and privileging allow.
- Provide overall medical care, functioning independently to assess, perform medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and complete patient care orders under the supervision of the staff attending.
- Facilitate communication with internal and external healthcare providers, maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies, and resources, and order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other related studies.
- Prescribe, order, and administer medications, direct other medical personnel and health professionals in the execution of patient care, and complete medical record documentation and billing information in a timely manner.
- A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is required; a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required if the Master's degree is in a related field.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required, as well as current certification in the specialty area and licensure as an ARNP in the state of Iowa.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Demonstrated experience in the area of clinical practice is required, with desirable qualifications including experience in internal medicine or a specified hospital specialty area, demonstrated ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient populations, and experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided.
