  • Valid State of Ohio gifted intervention specialist license or eligibility to obtain it.

  • Collaborate with classroom educators to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Deliver scheduled instructional sessions as assigned.
  • Ensure alignment of the educational process with the district's established curricula to meet state standards.
Learning Environment Development:
Establish and maintain a stimulating learning environment that fosters curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

  • Assess the educational needs of students through various sources (e.g., student records, teacher assessments, intervention evaluations).
  • Utilize information from the Written Educational Plan (WEP) to design and implement educational activities.
  • Adapt instructional methods to cater to diverse learning preferences.
  • Integrate technology effectively within the classroom.
  • Set high expectations for student achievement and demonstrate a vested interest in their academic journey.
  • Assist students in locating additional resources and knowledge.
  • Develop and implement behavior modification strategies to achieve educational objectives.
  • Encourage the development of problem-solving skills among students.
  • Provide guidance to help students cultivate positive attitudes and behaviors.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with guidance counselors to facilitate student emotional growth and interpersonal skills.

  • Consult with relevant staff to address ongoing student concerns (e.g., attendance issues, at-risk behaviors).
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as mandated by law and district policy.
  • Document student progress and share insights with K-12 staff to support academic goals.
  • Act as a resource for teachers working with gifted students.
  • Monitor and address students' medical and physical needs as necessary.
  • Support pupil services staff in their efforts.
  • Build effective relationships with community organizations.
  • Provide career guidance and help students develop essential work skills.
  • Engage with students' families and work environments as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide consultation for student evaluations.
  • Contribute to reevaluations and annual review meetings.
  • Make recommendations regarding student placements for the following academic year.
  • Ensure student safety through close supervision.
  • Oversee non-classroom activities as assigned.
  • Foster trust and maintain confidentiality with students, parents, and staff.
  • Communicate student progress to parents through various means.
  • Be available for educational purposes beyond regular hours when necessary.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies.
  • Report any suspected child abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • Communicate school rules and uphold high standards of conduct.
  • Encourage responsible use of school property and resources.
  • Participate in committee work and school activities.
  • Recommend instructional materials and techniques to enhance education.
  • Seek resources to enrich educational activities.
  • Support parent organizations and student activities as time allows.
  • Prepare the classroom at the start of the academic year and organize supplies at the end.
  • Stay informed on current research and instructional strategies.
  • Engage in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in after-school programs and events.
  • Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating integrity and respect.
