Position Summary:

The role of a Flatbed Truck Driver is crucial in the transportation of heavy machinery within the construction field. Drivers in this position are tasked with the safe delivery of various construction equipment to multiple job sites while ensuring all necessary documentation is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and standards.
  • Safely operate, load, and unload construction equipment.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of commercial vehicle operation.
  • Drive semi-trucks with trailers in compliance with state regulations, ensuring safe transport to designated locations.
  • Identify the most efficient routes considering load weight and traffic conditions.
  • Maintain accurate time and material records through daily logs.
  • Follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Exhibit strong maneuvering and backing skills.
  • Connect and disconnect trailers as required.
  • Monitor necessary permits and ensure all documentation is available during transport.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Ensure vehicle safety through daily inspections of tires, lights, and other essential components.
  • Prepare the vehicle for the next business day, including fueling and pre-loading when feasible.
  • Maintain the appearance of company vehicles and schedule repairs as needed.
  • Prioritize personal safety and the safety of colleagues and surroundings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Observe all traffic regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; vocational training is highly regarded.
  • Preference given to candidates with relevant educational credentials.
  • 2-5 years of experience in hauling heavy equipment or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a Class A CDL with Tankers and Hazmat endorsements is required.
  • Must meet DOT physical and medical standards and pass substance abuse screenings.
  • A clean driving record is essential.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Able to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions and environments.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Ability to engage in strenuous physical activities.
