Position Overview

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is in search of a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterology Clinician Researcher to enhance their esteemed faculty practices in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem areas. This role is categorized as a Clinical Faculty position (Assistant or Associate Professor) within the Department of Internal Medicine, specifically in the Gastroenterology & Hepatology section at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (Wake Forest GI). The institution provides a comprehensive range of GI and GI Endoscopy services, ensuring high-quality patient care.

Key Highlights:

  • Collaborate with a team of over 22 distinguished clinical faculty members at Wake Forest School of Medicine.
  • Engage in hospital-based outpatient procedures with skilled partners.
  • Contribute to the education and training of GI Fellows and other medical learners.
  • Oversee and work alongside a developing team of GI Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Enjoy a flexible work schedule comprising three days dedicated to GI Endoscopy and one day for outpatient clinic duties based on demand.
  • Anticipate handling 12-15 endoscopy cases per day and approximately 9 patient visits during each half-day clinic session.
  • Experience a strong culture of teamwork and innovation with colleagues throughout the health system.
  • Participate in inpatient consultations and share on-call responsibilities with fellow faculty members.
  • Compensation includes a base salary plus performance incentives.

Job Responsibilities:

As a physician, your role encompasses a variety of patient care activities, including the management of chronic conditions and guidance on preventive health measures. Regardless of specialty, the primary focus remains on diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. This is achieved through conducting physical examinations, gathering medical histories, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating treatment plans.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO degree with Board Certification/Eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Proven track record of clinical excellence and service delivery.
  • Possession of an unrestricted medical license in North Carolina or eligibility for licensure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at affiliated medical centers.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) as required by specialty.
  • Valid registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) for prescription authority.
