Breast Surgery Faculty Position

Position Overview
The Department of Surgery at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is actively seeking a qualified faculty member at the Assistant Professor level to enhance our breast surgery program. The selected candidate will be compensated based on their experience and credentials.
Clinical Focus
The primary clinical responsibilities will revolve around breast surgery, with an emphasis on techniques such as breast-conserving surgery, nipple and skin-sparing mastectomies, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and axillary node dissection.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates should be board certified or eligible, having completed a fellowship in breast surgery accredited by SSO/ASBrS, and must qualify for an unrestricted medical license in North Carolina. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in performing breast and axillary surgical procedures and will be involved in a multidisciplinary breast clinic alongside medical and radiation oncologists.
Educational Commitment
In addition to clinical duties, the candidate will play a vital role in educating general surgery residents, fellows, and medical students. A keen interest in clinical and translational research is highly encouraged, supported by a robust infrastructure.
Team Environment
The new faculty member will collaborate with a team of nine active Surgical Oncology faculty, treating a diverse patient population with various malignancies, including melanoma, sarcoma, and breast cancer.
Breast Care Center
The Breast Care Center, led by experienced professionals, offers a multidisciplinary clinic that operates several days a week, integrating surgical, medical, and radiation oncology services, supported by a team of nurse navigators and specialists.
Research Opportunities
The breast surgery division is committed to advancing research efforts, participating in various clinical trials, including NRG and Alliance trials, as well as investigator-initiated studies.
