Layton Services, a family-owned excavation and underground utilities contractor, is seeking a skilled Site Superintendent to oversee daily operations on construction sites across Central Ohio. Our expertise spans a variety of sitework projects, from small undertakings to extensive multi-family developments. Key services include earthmoving, site preparation, underground utility installation, and pre-construction demolition.


Role Summary: The Site Superintendent will supervise and coordinate daily job site activities while managing the short-term project timeline. This role involves leading the crew and foreman, addressing any job-related inquiries, and ensuring project milestones are met efficiently. Collaboration with the Project Manager is essential to address project-specific requirements, manage material availability, and oversee site mobilization and demobilization.


The individual will uphold and enforce all relevant OSHA regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain awareness of project progress from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Propose improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, ready to assist in various field tasks as needed.
  • Support the team with project billing processes using AIA G702 and G703 forms.
  • Ensure safety protocols are strictly followed on all job sites.
  • Participate in project meetings, whether virtual or in-person.
  • Assess employee performance and recommend actions regarding promotions, transfers, or terminations.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Controller with immediate project needs.
  • Coordinate inspections, manage inspection agency activities, and rectify any identified issues.
  • Serve as the primary contact for project-related inquiries.
  • Identify project requirements and scope, establishing and monitoring timelines for completion.
  • Maintain positive communication with all project stakeholders, including the public.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Familiarity with Civil Engineering blueprints.
  • Experience with payment applications and change orders.
  • Proficient in HCSS HeavyJob software.
  • Demonstrated success in client relations.
  • Basic computer skills (PDF, Email, Word documents).
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification (can be obtained upon hire).
