Key Responsibilities

The role involves establishing, approving, and managing the Structural Integrity Management Service while overseeing inspections necessary to uphold the structural integrity of both onshore and offshore oil production facilities. This will be conducted in alignment with approved plans and in accordance with Oceaneering and client codes of practice, strategies, and applicable offshore/onshore regulations.

Core Functions

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Assist the Line Manager in managing the Oceaneering contract, ensuring technical delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the annual budget.
  • Guarantee that all work adheres to relevant client engineering safety standards and practices, reviewing any revisions and feedback from the client’s Integrity Focal Point.
  • Develop and maintain structural integrity documentation for each asset.
  • Prepare and manage Structural Inspection Routines based on strategies produced by the client’s Structural Integrity Engineer.
  • Support the Principal Structural Engineer and Project Managers in delivering the Structural Integrity Management Service.
  • Provide technical leadership in the designated structural engineering discipline, delegating tasks to junior engineers as appropriate and reviewing their outputs.
  • Ensure that structural inspections outlined in the strategies are executed and coordinated with other necessary activities.
  • Contribute to the creation and ongoing management of asset Annual Inspection Plans and Integrated Field Planning compliance for structural activities.
  • Develop and distribute detailed inspection workpacks for structural inspections, ensuring all parties are well-informed about the workscopes.
  • Review and endorse all Structural Inspection Reports, including third-party NDE Reports, confirming that inspections were performed as required.
  • Conduct initial assessments of reported defects, reporting anomalies and raising concerns with the client’s Structural Integrity Engineer.
  • Participate in the IQRO process for structural issues.
  • Advise the client’s Structural Integrity Engineer of any limitations from inspections and suggest alternative solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of fabric maintenance strategies and plans.
  • Encourage the use of specialized technology to address unique challenges and collaborate with the client on implementation.
  • Draft the annual summary reports for topside structural inspections at year-end.
  • Maintain effective communication with Asset Teams, third parties, and internal disciplines to ensure a robust Structural Integrity Management service.
  • Attend relevant meetings and maintain communication with asset teams and third parties to ensure effective structural service delivery.
  • Assist the Line Manager in preparing the Oceaneering monthly performance management report.
  • Contribute to annual reporting as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Support the Line Manager in achieving Key Performance Indicator deliverables and overall service management.

Non-Essential Duties:

The list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake tasks that are reasonably expected within the scope of the position.

Engage in specific projects as directed by management.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline.

Desired:

  • MSc qualification in a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent.
  • Offshore medical and survival certification.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, including at least 3 years in the oil and gas sector, with a focus on structural steelwork inspection.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC systems and NDE techniques.
  • Ability to foster a team-oriented approach to problem-solving and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
