The HVAC Service Technician will be expected to fulfill their duties in alignment with company standards, operational procedures, and relevant regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with systems that necessitate technical expertise in rooftop HVAC units, heat pumps, direct expansion systems, pneumatic and electrical controls, as well as commercial and industrial cooling systems.
  • Identify the root causes of equipment failures, utilize appropriate testing instruments, disassemble and reassemble components, and execute necessary repairs on equipment and related parts.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections as outlined in maintenance agreements while adhering strictly to budgetary constraints.
  • Receive clear instructions from the Service Coordinator regarding specific tasks and assist in scheduling inspections based on location, labor requirements, priorities, customer coordination, and material collection.
  • Ensure prompt execution of maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain compliance with proper procedures for departure and arrival throughout the workday.
  • Present a tidy, professional appearance concerning personal conduct, company vehicle, and tools.
  • Acquire purchase orders and make minor purchases necessary for work performance, including maintaining adequate standard truck inventory and conducting inventory checks as required.
  • Consistently comply with company policies and procedures regarding the accurate completion of departmental documentation, including time records, work orders, refrigerant accountability logs, and material returns.
  • Keep the Service Coordinator updated on their location, activities, and upcoming tasks.
  • Participate in regular meetings with supervisors to discuss work progress and address any challenges that may exceed their expertise or authority.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and attend mandatory safety meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC system servicing, installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficient understanding of the HVAC service sector.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to comprehend and work with the refrigeration cycle.
  • Knowledge of current BOCA Code and OSHA safety standards.
  • Capability to manage and execute multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain urgency while remaining composed in emergency situations.
  • Possession of EPA-approved CFC Certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
