We are seeking a skilled Hearing Screening Specialist to join our team at UTMB Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment.
Responsibilities- Prepare equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks.
- Perform automated hearing screenings and obtain, import, and/or enter patient demographic information into screening equipment/screening results from hearing screening device into electronic medical records.
- Arrange and coordinate follow-up for outpatient screening appointments and participate in preparation of the monthly screener schedules.
- Prepare screening result letters and provide written and verbal results to parents/caregivers.
- Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
- Stay abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility.
- Perform related duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High school or equivalent.
- 60 hours of college credit preferred, healthcare experience preferred.
- Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use automated optoacoustic emission and auditory brainstem response screening equipment.
This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.
