Job Summary

UTMB Health is seeking a highly skilled Audiologist II, Speech to join our team. As a key member of our audiology department, you will be responsible for providing advanced professional skills in audiological diagnosis and evaluation, as well as habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer routine and complex audiometric tests to determine patients' hearing threshold, degree, site, and nature of damage to the auditory system and course of treatment.
  • Provide patient evaluation and treatments, employing techniques consistent with age-specific concerns for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Interpret basic and advanced diagnostic tests and prepare reports on diagnostic testing, implications of hearing disorder, and treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patients' progress with amplification or other treatment planning.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct identification, conservation, habilitative, and rehabilitative programs.
  • Determine need for patient referral to specialists.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to patients and other departments.
  • Assist in evaluating standards of patient care, assessing areas of need or improvement, and making recommendations for updates to procedures.
  • Supervise clinical work of support personnel.
  • Instruct and demonstrate testing procedures and treatments to clinic personnel, medical students, and residents.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary testing and research projects.
  • Serve as a preceptor to audiology doctoral students.
  • Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Audiology and three years of experience.
  • Certification or eligibility for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
  • Licensure or eligibility for Audiology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
