Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at General Dynamics. As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective and efficient procedures to purchase assigned commodities in accordance with product specifications, services in accordance with User stated requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and Maintain Supplier Relationships: Develop sources of supply and obtain information from suppliers concerning product and/or service specifications, price, delivery dates, etc. and ensure all applicable data is current at supplier.
- Procurement and Contract Administration: Solicit quotes, conduct bid evaluations, evaluate costs, negotiate optimum delivery schedules and ensure the best combination of price, quantity discount, product quality, standard terms and conditions, and where appropriate, supports the establishment of long term agreements such as Master Orders and Blanket Purchase Agreements.
- Communication and Coordination: Communicate with User departments such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Planning, Facilities and other departments as necessary to ensure their requirements are met.
- Purchase Order Administration: Prepare definitive purchase orders, including terms and conditions, make award, administer contracts with suppliers within budgetary limitations, and ensure schedules are met.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring: Monitor supplier performance, and prepare reports and other records pertaining to the items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product or service performance, supplier performance and/or inventories, as applicable.
- Problem Resolution: Resolve problems related to purchasing, delivery, receiving and payment to the supplier; determine source of the problem and take appropriate corrective action.
- Contract Administration: Coordinate administration of and response to all contract related documentation to include the requirement to review, coordinate, negotiate and implement changes to the contract.
- Support to Make-or-Buy Review: Supports the make-or-buy review and decision process.
- Assist in Planning and Reviewing Work: Assist in planning and reviewing the work of Associate Buyers, where appropriate.
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 2 years Purchasing or related experience. Master's Degree may offset 2 years of experience. Basic knowledge in purchasing methods and techniques.
