Clinical Renal Nutrition Specialist

Position Overview:
This role is dedicated to providing nutritional services and education to patients undergoing dialysis and their authorized caregivers within a clinical environment. The aim is to enhance and support the nutritional health of patients with end-stage renal disease, in alignment with LifeBridge Health's Policies, Procedures, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments to identify suitable dietary interventions and recommendations.
- Perform initial assessments within designated timeframes and follow up with regular re-assessments based on patient stability.
- Collaborate in the development of Interdisciplinary Care Plans, ensuring timely participation post-assessment.
- Review and document patients' medical and dietary histories, maintaining accurate records of nutritional progress.
- Create tailored Medical Nutrition Therapy plans, including specific meal strategies for each patient.
- Deliver nutrition education and counseling tailored to individual patient needs, considering their medical, economic, and social circumstances.
- Select or develop educational resources that are suitable for each patient.
- Monitor patients' nutritional status, lab results, and adherence to dietary recommendations, adjusting plans as necessary.
- Engage in anemia management and function as a Mineral and Bone Disorder Specialist.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary meetings to enhance patient care.
- Document all nutrition-related progress in compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements.
- Foster effective communication with the medical team, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field is required.
- Registered Dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is mandatory.
- State licensure in Maryland or the applicable state is required.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian is essential.
- Experience in a dialysis setting is preferred.
- Strong time management and communication skills are crucial.
- Ability to think critically and work collaboratively within a team environment.
