Job Title: Preschool Paraprofessional

At Governors State University, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Preschool Paraprofessional to join our team. As a key member of our Early Childhood Education program, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our young students.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of individual children, while ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to design and implement daily routines and schedules, ensuring the well-being and safety of all children.
  • Provide exceptional care and support to children, including feeding, diapering, and engaging in play-based activities.
  • Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times, inspecting toys and equipment daily and maintaining accurate records.
  • Participate in family-style meal service, promoting social and self-help skills, and sound nutritional practices.
  • Assist with classroom procedures, including laundry, handwashing, and health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality of care and maintain ratios, even during naptime, outside, or gym activities.
Requirements:
  • Educator license endorsed as a Paraprofessional Educator in Illinois.
  • Child Development Associate Credential or NAEYC equivalent.
  • Illinois Early Childhood Education Level 1 Credential.
  • AA in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Child Development (preferred).
