As a behavioral health organization, we are responsible for providing mental health services, coordinating substance abuse treatment, and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in Kent County. Position Overview:
We are in search of a Rights Protection Specialist to ensure that our agency maintains a Recipient Rights System that adheres to both federal and state regulations concerning behavioral health and substance use disorder services.

This is a full-time role, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The position offers remote work flexibility, with the option to utilize office space if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in social sciences, human services, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in dispute resolution, report writing, or advocacy within a human services agency (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Successful completion of MDHHS-ORR Basic Skills training, or the ability to complete this training within three months of hire; ongoing training as required.
  • Experience managing confidential or sensitive information professionally.
  • Valued lived experiences with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for job-related activities.
  • Ability to respond professionally under pressure while engaging with individuals in crisis or with complex needs.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals experiencing mental health challenges or intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and independently.
  • Collaborative approach to working with peers and community partners.
  • Ability to convey information clearly in group or public settings.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess data and make informed decisions, documenting the process accurately.
