Job Summary

At Cambridge Post Acute Care Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Program Administration: Assist in the administration of occupational therapy programs under the general supervision of an occupational therapist, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care and support.
  2. Patient Care: Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in learning and improving functional skills, promoting independence and confidence.
  3. Progress Monitoring: Observe patients during treatments, compile data on responses to treatments, and report progress to supervising occupational therapists.
  4. Assessment and Evaluation: Assist in evaluating patient daily living skills and capacities, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies for enhancement.
  5. Equipment and Environment: Design and adapt equipment and working/living environments to meet the needs of patients, promoting safety and accessibility.
  6. Education and Training: Instruct patients and their families in home programs and the use of adaptive equipment, empowering them to take an active role in their care.
  7. Documentation and Communication: Document patient progress toward established goals and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  8. Public Relations and Safety: Establish and maintain good public relations with patients, families, and center guests, adhering to the requirements of the resident/patient Bill of Rights and following established infection control precautions.
  9. Supply Management and Maintenance: Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment, ensuring that the facility is well-stocked and prepared to meet the needs of patients.
  10. Administrative Tasks: Maintain billing records and perform other administrative tasks as required, contributing to the smooth operation of the facility.
  11. Professional Development: Attend seminars and educational programs related to occupational therapy, maintaining active licensure status and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
  12. Teamwork and Confidentiality: Participate in scheduled in-service programs and staff meetings, maintaining confidentiality of necessary information and utilizing supplies and equipment properly.
  13. Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Think and act calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the job, adapting to changing situations and priorities as needed.
Requirements
  1. Credentials and Experience: Credentialed graduate of an accredited two-year Occupational Therapist Assistant program and certified according to national requirements, with prior experience preferred.
  2. Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  3. Work Environment and Expectations: Must be capable of executing all terms and conditions set forth in the Employee Handbook, including working in a safety-conscious manner, complying with local, state, and federal regulations, and interacting with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner.
