Job Summary:

The Orthodontic Assistant will provide exceptional support to our doctors during treatment exams and all necessary functions. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Preparation: Greet and prepare patients for dental care, ensuring a comfortable and relaxed environment.
  • Assisting the Orthodontist: Assist the orthodontist at the chair while they are engaged in any treatment of patients, anticipating their needs and being prepared for the next steps.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication with patients, colleagues, and management, ensuring a positive and professional relationship.
  • Technical Skills: Perform removal and placement of arch wires, tooth preparation prior to bonding, accurate computer charting, sterilization of chairs and instruments, and other technical tasks as required.
  • Lab Tasks: Undertake lab tasks as instructed, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, oral photographs, and other relevant documentation.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Valid Texas-issued Registered Dental Assistant License.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact, preferably in a dental or orthodontic setting.
  • Skills: Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures, familiarity with sterilization, OSHA guidelines, and procedures.
