Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant at Ambe Healthcare Staffing, you will play a vital role in supporting the provision of care within our physician department. You will interact with patients, families, and staff members to maximize successful patient outcomes. Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for office visits or outpatient procedures, obtaining vital signs and weighing patients, updating problem and medication lists, and assisting with procedures requested by medical providers. You will also perform phlebotomy as needed, check charts for omissions and compliance, and maintain sterilization processes for all instruments. Additionally, you will make referral and prescription calls, refill prescriptions, screen calls, and assure that all necessary release and consent forms are signed. You will also perform lab testing, look up prescriptions on the Maine Prescription Monitoring Program, and prepare electronic charts with all requested information. Your communication skills will be essential in communicating with patients via various communication avenues, including secure messaging. You will participate in department quality indicators and collect provider quality data as requested. You will also complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists with duties to include inventory management, samples management, and other monitors. You will maintain compliance with all hospital policies as well as compliance with all State, Federal and CMS policies of licensing and certification. You will be responsible for maintaining medical record privacy and security according to hospital policies and procedures at all times. You will demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the hospital's mission, vision, and values as well as the service excellence standards while completing all tasks and responsibilities. You will provide coverage for other DECH/CCH physician offices when necessary and seek out needed information by staying informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email, and other appropriate information in a timely manner. You will use patient handling techniques as appropriate to the needs of the individual patient in keeping with the Safe Patient and Handling and Movement Policy. You will be reliable in attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands. You will perform duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures. You will comply with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures. Other duties, as assigned, that are relevant to the position and department will also be performed.

Requirements:
  • Ability to work with the public.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Immunization and injection administration, vision & hearing, phlebotomy.
  • Certified Medical Assisting degree or appropriate training.
  • CMA or RMA certification.
