Job Summary

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is seeking a highly skilled External Affairs Coordinator to join their team. This role will serve as a policy advisor to the Public Utilities Commissioners, agency leadership, and staff, providing expert guidance on complex policy matters related to electricity, natural gas, energy facilities, and telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the agency's legislative and intergovernmental priorities
* Provide expert analysis and recommendations on policy matters to the Public Utilities Commissioners and agency leadership
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including legislative chairs, members, and staff, as well as other governmental bodies and regulatory agencies
* Track and analyze external and stakeholder engagement to inform agency decision-making

Requirements

* 5 years of professional experience in state utility regulation, policy development, or a related field
* Strong understanding of state utility regulation processes, issues, and legal frameworks
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences
* Ability to work in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders
