Campus Security Specialist

Hendrix College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Officer to join our team. As a Public Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of campus buildings and grounds to prevent and respond to incidents of theft, vandalism, fire, and other safety hazards.
- Lock and Unlock Buildings: Ensure that buildings are securely locked and unlocked as needed to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Life Safety Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain life safety equipment, including locks, lighting, fire extinguishers, and alarms, to ensure they are in good working order.
- Incident Reporting: Report any public safety incidents or unusual conditions on campus to the appropriate officials.
- Investigations: Conduct investigations into complaints made by faculty, staff, and students, as well as traffic accidents on campus.
- Emergency Response: Assist local fire and rescue personnel as needed and provide emergency response services during special events.
- Public Safety Services: Provide parking and traffic direction, crowd control, and other public safety services as needed.
- Enforcement: Issue traffic and parking violation citations and assist area police with investigations on campus.
- Visitor Services: Provide directions and general information to visitors and guests.
- Administrative Tasks: Prepare required paperwork and reports on public safety activities.
- Education and Experience: High school education plus one to two years of security or law enforcement training or experience, or a combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and skills.
- Skills: Knowledge of first aid techniques, CPR certification, familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, basic knowledge of fire prevention, valid driver's license, and ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals.
