As a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) at Uvalde Memorial Hospital, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care in a high-acuity environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide direct and indirect nursing care in critical care settings, ensuring adherence to established nursing standards.
2. Act as the primary nurse or charge nurse, coordinating patient care and communicating effectively with team members.
3. Conduct thorough assessments upon patient admission and throughout their stay, monitoring vital signs and telemetry.
4. Identify and respond to dysrhythmias, implementing appropriate interventions as needed.
5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss changes in patient conditions and treatment plans.
6. Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive assessments and patient needs.
7. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and ensure timely communication of lab results and diagnostic studies.
8. Address patient and family inquiries, providing education and support as necessary.
9. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
10. Uphold a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Texas Registered Nurse Licensure is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.
- Completion of EKG interpretation training is required within six months.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing excellent patient service.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities, including lifting, standing, walking, and reaching. Candidates must possess good vision and hearing, as well as the capability to handle equipment safely.
