Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in our Surgery department, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Perioperative, post anesthesia care and endoscopy settings.
Key Responsibilities- Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative assessment/care to patients
- Monitor hemodynamic status of patients and interpret data
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills
- Function as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers
- Ensure implants are documented correctly and in collaboration with the surgical team on the sterile field
- Consult other departments, as appropriate, to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs
- Maintain accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of change
- Ensure adequate stock of supplies are maintained and at PAR level
- Check in supplies from Materials Management and put stock away
- Ensure that all equipment is properly functioning and in working order for use
- Assist with all OR and Endoscopy cases/procedures
- Recover patients after operations, procedures, treatments, etc.
- Take after-hours and weekend call for emergency surgeries and/or procedures
- Communicate with physicians/supervisor/charge nurse/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptoms
- Responsible for reassessments in all aspects of patient care
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
- Current Texas Registered Nurse Licensure required
- Current BLS for healthcare providers' certification required
- Current ACLS and PALS certification required within 6 months of hire
- Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service
- Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively
- Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
