Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Real Estate Examiner to join our team at the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. As a key member of our Real Estate Unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines, collaborating with appraisers, the public, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review applications for appraiser licensure or certification to ensure applicants meet the requirements for licensure or certification as established in chapter 400g of the Connecticut General Statutes and sections to , inclusive, of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies.
  • Assess written appraisal reports, appraisal review reports, and appraisal consulting reports to ensure compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
  • Inspect appraised properties and related reports to ensure accordance with USPAP for various property types.
  • Audit certified or provisionally licensed individuals to ensure they meet continuing education requirements as per state statutes.
  • Compile and transmit a roster of certified appraisers and registry fees to the appropriate federal entity.
  • Write detailed investigative reports and testify at hearings and in court when necessary.
  • Provide information and technical assistance to appraisers and the public.
  • Represent the Department before groups and the media as assigned.
  • Work with and attend the Real Estate Appraisal Commission.
  • Support the regulation and oversight of appraisal management companies (AMCs) and report findings to the Appraisal Subcommittee as needed.
  • Investigate real estate complaints and cases as assigned.
