Job Overview

The Turner's Outdoorsman Bookkeeper plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager, Assistant Manager, and Department Managers in their daily tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of financial operations, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the register accurately and efficiently, handling various transaction types and providing excellent customer service.
  • Perform daily audits of tenders and paperwork, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Verify paperwork, including serial numbers, DROS numbers, and ATF transaction records, to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Administer and grade Firearm Safety Certificate tests, accurately filling out certificate logs when passed.
  • Organize and consolidate Daily Sales Reports, comparing credit batch card details, cash totals, and extraneous tenders against totals listed on the Daily Media Report.
  • Complete deposits, verify cash totals in drawers, and maintain the bank safe.
  • Conduct back-office research to determine overage/shortage causes and make necessary corrections, communicating with Loss Prevention and Accounting.
  • Ship Daily Sales Reports to Corporate, meeting deadlines as indicated on the monthly calendar.
  • Prepare and send original Corporate check requests with signed invoices attached.
  • Assemble consignment paperwork, verifying all necessary information is provided prior to submission.
  • Receive and audit purchase orders and packing slips, returning audited packing slips to the Corporate office.
  • Create duplicate price SKUs and extraneous signs as directed.
  • Receive and organize sale signage from Advertising.
  • Perform paperwork audits as directed by management.
  • Provide training and audits of cashier's scanning accuracy, with periodic testing and evaluations.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Legally eligible to work in a firearms environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong data entry and calculator skills.
  • Proficient in computer software.
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Prior audit and compliance experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Responsible for loading/unloading trucks, lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to maintain focus to accurately count cash.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and lift throughout the scheduled shift.
Work Schedule
  • Varied schedule, depending on business needs, with some overtime required.
  • Requests for time off may or may not be granted during black-out periods.
