About the Position

The Superior Court of California, County of San Diego is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Courtroom Clerk I to join our team. As a Courtroom Clerk I, you will play a critical role in supporting the judicial officers and ensuring the smooth operation of the court.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend court sessions to record and prepare official minutes of court proceedings
  • Administer oaths and impanel juries, maintaining accurate records
  • Receive, mark, and maintain exhibits, ensuring their integrity and authenticity
  • Read verdicts and poll juries, ensuring accurate and fair outcomes
  • Calendaring activities in support of independent calendar departments in civil, family, or probate cases, preparing notices and resolving scheduling problems
  • Provide authoritative information on court policies, procedures, or specific cases, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Utilize and maintain information in automated case management tracking systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Filing, preparing, and processing a variety of court documents for civil, criminal, juvenile, family law, probate, small claims, or minor offense cases
Requirements
  • At least two years of full-time experience as a Court Operations Clerk or four years of full-time legal clerical/secretarial experience, including preparing, processing, and reviewing legal documents
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal clerical procedures, and routine court proceedings and calendaring activities
  • Ability to listen, summarize, and document court proceedings, read, comprehend, and interpret legal codes and statutes, and proofread and review documents and records for correctness and sufficiency of information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals in an efficient and pleasant manner
