Student Support Services/Speech and Language Pathologist
JOB SUMMARY:
The Speech Language Pathologist will support children with unique communication requirements; collaborate with educational staff to achieve student speech and language objectives, while adhering to all regulatory standards set forth by federal and state authorities, and maintain compliance with the Teacher Code of Ethics as mandated by Minnesota State Law.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and perform evaluations for Part C and Part B assessments.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team evaluations of a child, their family, and contribute to the formulation of integrated goals and outcomes for IEPs/IFSPs.
- Inform parents and stakeholders about service provisions.
• Deliver specialized instruction as specified in IEPs/IFSPs. - Consult with parents, other service providers, and community agency representatives to ensure effective service delivery.
- Design a structured schedule of individualized, age-appropriate activities across various environments.
- Employ diverse materials and instructional strategies, including evidence-based practices.
- Schedule interventions utilizing various service delivery models, including classroom intervention, Family Guided Routines Based intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pullout as necessary to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment.
• Actively participate with students in the activities being taught.
• Develop and implement a continuous evaluation system for each student's progress.
• Coordinate service delivery to maximize learning opportunities. - Participate in meetings (IFSP/IEP, conferences, parent meetings, inservices, etc.) to develop plans and/or provide information regarding student goals/outcomes.
- Provide training to related service personnel and parents regarding students' disabilities.
- Prepare documentation (evaluations, observations, progress reports) to meet information and reporting requirements.
- Maintain records and reports as necessary for compliance with administrative policies, state and federal regulations.
- Make referrals to other professionals and agencies on behalf of students as appropriate.
- Guide and instruct parents and educational staff in effective methods to support their child.
- Collaborate with Special Education Staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Provide Service Coordination and IEP case management as required.
- Manage third-party billing/Medicaid billing profiles and documentation for eligible students.
- Supervise school personnel in implementing students' specific learning goals and objectives.
- Uphold confidentiality standards.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Current Minnesota teaching license as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology / CCC SLP
- Experience working with students with diverse communication needs.
- Clinical Fellowship Year opportunities available.
- Experience in due process procedures, including conducting evaluations, writing IEPs/IFSPs, monitoring progress, and facilitating meetings.
- Possess a valid Minnesota Drivers License and proof of liability insurance coverage with minimum limits of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to program and student needs.
- Knowledge of screening, evaluation, and assessment tools and their application.
- Familiarity with all due process requirements and strong computer skills.
- Ability to implement IEPs/IFSPs.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a site principal and/or special education supervisor/administrator.
- Capability to adapt equipment and materials for children with disabilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Sensitivity in working with individuals with various physical, psychological, cognitive, and sensory abilities.
- Ability to engage with students, families, professionals, and staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with all levels of staff and the public.
