Student Support Services/Speech and Language Pathologist
JOB SUMMARY:
The Speech Language Pathologist will support children with unique communication requirements; collaborate with educational staff to achieve student speech and language objectives, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards as mandated by federal and state laws, while adhering to the Teacher Code of Ethics as stipulated by Minnesota State Law.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate and execute evaluations for Part C and Part B assessments.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team evaluations of a child and their family, contributing to the formulation of integrated goals and outcomes for IEPs/IFSPs.
- Inform parents and stakeholders about service provision.
• Deliver specialized instruction as outlined in IEPs/IFSPs. - Consult with parents, service providers, and community agency representatives to ensure effective service delivery.
- Design a structured schedule of individualized, age-appropriate activities across various environments.
- Employ diverse materials and instructional methods, including evidence-based practices.
- Organize interventions utilizing multiple service delivery models, such as classroom intervention, Family Guided Routines Based intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pullout services as necessary to address student needs in the least restrictive environment.
• Actively participate with students in the activities being taught.
• Develop and implement a continuous evaluation system to monitor each student's progress.
• Coordinate service provision to enhance learning opportunities. - Attend meetings (IFSP/IEP, conferences, parent meetings, inservices, etc.) to develop plans and/or provide updates regarding student goals/outcomes.
- Offer training to related service personnel and parents concerning students' disabilities.
- Prepare documentation (evaluations, observations, progress reports) to fulfill information and reporting requirements.
- Maintain records and reports as mandated for compliance with administrative policies, state, and federal regulations.
- Refer students to other professionals and agencies as appropriate.
- Guide and instruct parents and educational staff in effective methods to support their child.
- Collaborate with Special Education Staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Provide Service Coordination and IEP case management as necessary.
- Manage third-party billing/Medicaid billing profiles and documentation for eligible students.
- Supervise school personnel in executing learners' specific educational goals and objectives.
- Uphold confidentiality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Current Minnesota teaching license as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology / CCC SLP
- Experience with students possessing a diverse range of communication needs.
- Clinical Fellowship Year opportunities available.
- Familiarity with due process procedures, including conducting evaluations, drafting IEPs/IFSPs, monitoring progress, and facilitating meetings.
- Possess a valid Minnesota Drivers License and proof of liability insurance coverage with minimum limits of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to program and student needs.
- Knowledge of screening, evaluation, and assessment tools and their application.
- Understanding of all due process requirements and proficient computer skills.
- Capability to implement IEPs/IFSPs.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a site principal and/or special education supervisor/administrator.
- Skill in adapting equipment and materials for children with disabilities.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Sensitivity in working with individuals with various physical, psychological, cognitive, and sensory abilities.
- Ability to engage with students, families, professionals, and staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Capacity to interact and maintain cooperative relationships with all levels of staff and the public.
