Surgical Technologist Role for Ambulatory Care

Job Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist II plays a vital role in the operating room team, preparing sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures. As a key member of the team, this individual provides direct patient care while adhering to established procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions autonomously as a member of the operating room team
  • Prepares sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Provides direct patient care while following established protocols

Requirements:

  • Hold and maintain Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
  • Current CPR card, either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card required

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and working indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, and in a latex-safe environment

Compensation:

This position offers an estimated salary range of $75,000 - $100,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. The Medical University of South Carolina participates in the federal E-Verify program to confirm the identity and employment authorization of all newly hired employees.
