Role and Responsibilities:

The Client Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering services for the Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis Program at The Salvation Army Anew Center. Based at one of our offices, the Specialist will be tasked with implementing services related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and rape crisis throughout the community.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Familiarizing oneself with The Salvation Army Employee Handbook and adhering to the policy and procedure manual specific to the Anew Center.
- Providing comprehensive case management services for both non-residential and residential clients facing domestic violence, sexual assault, and related issues.
- Offering accompaniment and advocacy services concerning legal, medical, educational, personal, financial, housing, and other relevant matters.
- Assisting clients in accessing community resources, securing housing, and establishing self-sufficiency goals, which may involve support with furniture, employment, childcare, education, utilities, etc.
- Reporting residential intakes to the appropriate authorities, scheduling initial appointments, and maintaining regular communication regarding client progress.
- Facilitating weekly support groups for domestic violence survivors or other related groups as assigned.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, and submitting required reports and statistics to The Salvation Army and program funders.
- Assisting in the training of Anew Center volunteers and staff as needed.
- Being available for shelter coverage and critical situations as directed by the Program Director.
- Providing services through various methods including office visits, home visits, and via the Hotline, ensuring follow-up as necessary.
- Informing clients about the Office of Victim Services Compensation and assisting with applications for eligible individuals.
- Participating in staff meetings and communicating relevant operational information to the immediate supervisor.
- Attending initial Rape Crisis Training and completing a minimum of 10 hours of training annually to maintain certified counselor status.
- Acting as a mandated reporter for The Salvation Army, reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate services.
- Attending inter-agency and community meetings to facilitate client services as assigned.
- Engaging in public speaking and participating in agency functions as requested.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience will be considered.
- Completion of sexual assault training is required to become a certified rape crisis counselor.
- Proficiency in computer skills for maintaining case files and correspondence.
- Professional presentation and demeanor are essential.
- Ability to navigate stairs and transport supplies as needed.
- Valid driver's license that meets The Salvation Army's insurance requirements.
